Liquid Harvest Mesotrione is a systemic herbicide that can be used both as a pre-emergence and post-emergence treatment for controlling weeds in turfgrasses. When applied before weeds emerge, they will absorb Mesotrione as they grow, leading to their control. However, if there are dry conditions after application, the pre-emergence activity may be reduced, so irrigation is recommended if there is no rainfall within 10 days.

In post-emergence applications, susceptible weeds will absorb Mesotrione either through contact with their foliage or through the soil. Treated weeds will stop growing, turn white due to the loss of chlorophyll, and may take up to three weeks to die. For better post-emergence weed control, a repeat application is needed after two to three weeks.
