Liquid Harvest Mesotrione is a powerful herbicide that offers both pre-emergence and post-emergence control of weeds in turfgrasses. When applied before weeds emerge, Mesotrione is absorbed by the weeds during their growth from the soil. However, dry conditions after application may reduce its effectiveness as a pre-emergent herbicide. If there is no rainfall within 10 days of a pre-emergence application, irrigation is recommended to activate the product. As a post-emergent herbicide, Mesotrione targets susceptible weeds through foliar contact and soil absorption. Treated weeds stop growing, turn white due to the loss of chlorophyll, and may take up to three weeks to die off completely. For better post-emergence weed control, a repeat application is necessary after two to three weeks. Mesotrione is particularly effective against challenging weeds and helps reduce weed competition during seeding.
